My name is baby K! This is a blog written by me, from my point of view, it is just for fun. I hope you enjoy!

I MADE IT! Date: 5/17/2007 Hi Everyone!
I decided today would be a good day to join the world, it is Mother's Day and my Pepere's (grandfather) birthday! I felt it was time to come out because I was tired of my mom's kidney stone problems getting all the attention. Mom and Dad did great! Dad cut the worm off my belly even though I thought he wouldnt be able to stomach it himself. Everyone I have met so far tells me I look identical to my Dad, and Mom isnt sure that I am her baby but Dad promises I am the one that came out of her belly. Everyone in the family attempted to guess my weight, hair color and eye color before I arrived, my aunt Tracy got the birth weight exactly right! The doctors say that my blue eyes and hair color can change so we will have to wait for the verdict on that for now. Lots of people have sent us baby gift baskets, thanks to everyone!
Hope you like all the photo of me!
Love K!
P.S. I am a girl, you cant tell because mommy blurred out part of the picture because she doesnt want anyone to get the wrong idea, she is silly!

My First Xmas! Date: 12/16/2007 I am so excited about celebrating my first christmas! I helped decorate the tree, I love love love the white lights! I have already opened a couple presents from some friends, I dont really understand the concept of baby gifts and unwrapping but I really like to shake the xmas paper around!
I am learning a bit of sign language, so far eat and drink are the two signs they show me.
I am also learning to go to sleep on my own at night. I dont need to be rocked, dont need my back rubbed, and I dont even need that toy that shines lights on the ceiling. They put me in my crib and I just fall asleep. The first couple of nights I was really angry about it, I cried and cried but for my own good they didnt pick me up. By night number three I learned to fall asleep on my own. My parents think its a miracle, I go down like clockwork by 8pm every night! They are also teaching me that when I wake up in the middle of the night that I must fall back to sleep on my own, we are all sleeping better and in our own beds too!
I went to the doctor for my six month checkup, Im super healthy as always! I am in the 97th% for my length, I am in the 51st% for my weight, and am 86th% for my head. For those of you who dont have babies yet, what it means is 50% is average so I am above average in all categories! woo hoo!
There are two journal entries for Dec, be sure to read them both (mom cant remember if she sent the other one out yet or not) Hugs & Kisses! Baby K
Hi,
You should see me now! I can sit up on my own now and Im really starting to develop my own personality! I love to reach out and grab everything I see, especially at the grocery store.
I eat lots of solid baby food like squash, peas, sweet potatoes and cereal, you should see the faces I make when I try new foods. I can drink from a sippy cup too!
I saw my first snowfall in early December. I also took my first airplane ride to Florida. I did great, flying is fun especially since we got to sit in first class! I barely cried at all on the flight!
I have started to show signs of separation anxiety, sometimes I freak out when other people hold me and only when mom or dad are holding me do I chill out again.
I just had a doctor visit and my 6 month shots, my doctor said my talking is advanced for my age, especially since I was born 3-4 weeks early. I now weigh 16 pounds. My weight is just above average, and I am way above average in length!
Hugs & Kisses! Baby K
Hi Folks,
I am now 6 months old! Im growing up so fast. Mom and dad cant believe how big I have gotten.
I now eat cereal from a spoon, and I really like it. I only spit it out the first couple of times they tried to feed me, but now I figured it out and always finish my whole bowl of food.
I just got a new big girl carseat as I have outgrown my other one.
I can pull myself forward when laying in an almost flat position. I can roll from my belly to my back and from my back to my side. I dont like laying on my belly so I dont much care to roll from my back to my tummy. I found my feet this month, its lots of fun for me to grab my shoes and socks! I still have blond peachfuzz hair. I must be teething because I still drool lots. I have a teething buzzer that I love to chomp down on.
I celebrated my first halloween last month, I dressed up as a strawberry and mom and dad took me trick or treating in town with our friends. They didnt share any candy with me, that was a bit dissapointing but I had a good time anyways.
I have really started to watch my dogs walk around. I like to pet them and squeel at them. They are pretty good at entertaining me.
Hugs & Kisses,
Baby K
I turned 5 months old this past weekend! I weigh over 14 pounds now!
I can almost sit up on my own now, I sway back and forth a bit before I topple over. I pull myself forward regularly. I have started to roll over. I did it three times in a row with mom and dad one night watching tv on my playmat. I havent done it since but it surely wont be too long. I love to stand and jump up and down when people hold me up!
I finally tried out my jumparoo! It is so awesome, I love to bounce bounce bounce! Its now my favorite activity. I have a toy on it that I can spin on my own. I also got to sit in my high chair like a big girl, I have this ferris wheel toy that makes me squeel in delight as I spin it around.
I drool all the time now. I might be teething, we arent sure yet. I have a teething ring that I love to chomp down on. I wear bibs regularly now to help keep my shirts dry.
I love to hear myself talk & scream. The new sound I like to make is "eh.....eh.......eh". If you repeat me I smile back at you, its pretty cute! I often call my out of state relatives to talk to say hello. sometimes they think its a prank call but then they realize its just me screaming on the other end of the line.
Im going to be a strawberry for halloween, but you will have to wait until November to see the photos.
Hugs & Kisses!
Baby K!

MONTH 4 Date: 9/17/2007 I will be four months old this week! I can hold up my head really well. I pull my shoulders up and lean my body forward from a reclining sitting position. My parents can't leave me in my bouncy chair, swing, or stroller without being completely buckled in. I love to grab toys and laugh lots at the squeeky noisy ones! Oh ya, I Last weekend I met the rest of the "R" family at our annual labor day gathering at the camp in Maine. I got to go for my first boat ride around the lake (check out the pictures, I look so cute in my baby lifejacket). I also tried waterskiing but for some reason Pepere doesnt think I am ready yet. I started sleeping better in the past few weeks. I now sleep no less than 5-6 hours at a time, sometimes I have even sleep for an 8 hour streches. Also I have decided sleeping in my bassinet instead of in mom and dad's bed is acceptable, we all get much more sleep this way and it seems to be working out ok. I have also started learning how to put myself to sleep when mom lays me down still awake at night, I usually only fuss for a couple minutes and then I am out for the night Last week mom switched me from plastic bottles to glass bottles, I didnt really agree with that because it meant I had to use a different size top but I am slowly getting over it. She says they are much healthier for me and the plastic bottles can be dangerous. I try to talk often but its always the same few sounds that come out of my mouth, I will keep trying. Hope you all enjoyed your summer! Hugs & Kisses, Baby K
MONTH 3 Date: 8/8/2007 I am now 3 months old. Time sure does fly by fast.
In July I got to go to Maine again for a week. It was so hot, I spent most of the week hanging out in my diapers. I tried swimming again but didnt like it, maybe next year! I got to meet both of my great grandmothers, they both adore me. My great Memere has nicknamed me "baby K K"
I am really good at holding my head up now. I have had a few colic screaming fits, when this happens mom and dad put me in the swing, that always works, I love the swing now. I laugh and cooh lots everytime.
I started to grow hair, it looks to be strawberry blond. I am still sleeping 3-4 hours at a time at night, once in a while I get 5 hours. Sometimes I lay in my crib and talk to myself. I absolutely love to put my hands in my mouth. Mom wants me to take a pacifier but I hate it and spit it out right away, I guess they will have to just make extra effort to keep my hands clean.
I have upgraded my cloth diapers to the next larger size. I smile and laugh all the time and am definitely awake much much more. The last week of July I held my own bottle for the first time, that was fun. I can also hold small infant toys.
I have started to reject feeding from a bottle, but I am told that next wednesday I will be at my new daycare four days a week so I better learn to like the bottle again. I have already gone to daycare twice for a couple quick visits, I seem to really like it there. I have my own crib so I get to bring my own crib linens and everything. All the toddlers swarm around me when I arrive, Im so popular.
This weekend will be my first time mom will leave me with grandma G. I know she is excited and so am I. My grandma will be taking care of me one day a week starting in September when mom goes back to work fulltime. Until then I will be adjusting to my new schedule and my new surroundings. The good news is the daycare is close to home so if I could just learn how to walk I could sneak out and walk home, he he he!
I got all my vaccine shots last friday, not fun. I turned bright red and screamed so loud! Then I fell asleep for 3 hours. When I woke up I was so angry, I decided to cry for a long time, then when the baby tylenol kicked in I was good to go.
Tomorrow I am going to Vermont with my friend Owen, whoo hoo!
Hugs & Kisses,
Baby K!

MONTH 2 Date: 7/11/2007 I am now just over 2 months old! I’m not sure how much I weigh exactly but I know its somewhere between 11-12 pounds. When my parents hold me they can easily tell just by picking me up how much heavier I am. I am starting to fit into 3-month sized baby clothes. People at the grocery store still think I am super tiny, but they don’t really know what they are talking about. I can hold up my head for longer stretches. I focus on objects and smile when baby toys are placed in front of me. I also smile when mom and dad talk to me. I can cooh and make other baby sounds like aaahhh. I now am becoming more content laying in my crib awake while talking to myself. I love to kick and swat at the toys that hang above my head on my play-mat and while in my bouncy chair. When dad talks to me and opens his mouth wide, I copy him and do the same thing. When he holds me on his chest I like to kick my legs and climb up to his shoulder. I have finally figured out how the breastfeeding thing works. I can easily switch back and forth between being breastfed and drinking from a bottle. I am now only getting about 2 bottles with 2-3oz. of formula in the evenings and mom feeds me the rest of the time, it means I don’t sleep as long at night, but she doesn’t mind, she says getting the good nutrition is more important than feeding me with the gritty formula in order to have me sleep longer. On average I sleep for 3 hours at a time. I am still in my bassinet in mom and dads room, they don’t think I will be moving up to my own bedroom until I am getting at least 5 hours at a time. I don’t mind switching back and forth between eating from a bottle or being breastfed, some people are surprised by that. My eyes are changing color, they are turning to a lighter blue. I’m still trying to grow hair on my head.
I have done lots of traveling in the last month. I took my first road trip to Maine. Then a couple weeks later I went to Rhode Island to celebrate the fourth of July. I wear cloth diapers when I am at home and disposables when I travel. Everyone gave mom a hard time and predicted she wouldn’t stick with it, but its really not as difficult as it sounds and they are really cute, mine come in five colors, are made of fleece, and have Velcro on the sides.
I got to go swimming for the first time, it was actually more of a quick dip because I screamed and was not happy about the cold water.
I promise to write more soon.
Hugs and Kisses,
K

MONTH 1 Date: 6/11/2007 In a couple days I will be one month old! Don't worry, Im not planning any big parties or anything just yet.
I have started to hold up my head sometimes when mom and dad burp me, usually for no longer than five seconds at a time.
When I am feeding if you tickle my feet I make a noises to let people know I am irritated and dont want to be bothered when I am eating.
I dont like diaper changes so to prevent me from screaming the whole time mom gives me a bottle and that keeps me quiet.
Im starting to fit into newborn sized clothing finally. I do not like socks, if they put them on me I kick them off everytime within minutes. The ones that do stay on my feet leave marks on my ankles so I decided to stick to outfits that already have the feet in them.
Nanny R says she can tell that I already like to be held by my mom more than I did the first couple weeks after I was born, back then I liked everyone to hold me. Grandma G thinks I know the sound of my mom's voice and that I respond to it.
Mom takes me everywhere now. I love to ride in the car. Mom and dad still cant figure out a good place to hang my mirror so they can see me, they try something different everytime we get in the car, but it doesnt matter because I sleep the whole time anyways. I have so many new health and safety items, its funny to watch mommy try to figure out what they are and how to use them, I am obviously her first baby! So far I have been to the grocery store, doctors appointments, and the DMV. I even got to go out to dinner with mom and dad one night, I slept the whole time. I gotta say, the attention I get when I am out and about is amazing, everyone thinks I am so cute. They all ask how old I am and then the "oohs and aaahs" are always not too far behind.
Everyone still thinks I look just exactly like my dad, mom gets jealous sometimes but I tell her not to worry because I think my hair color is going to be brown just like hers.
Love Baby K
21 DAYS Date: 6/3/2007 Well I am now 21 days old! Everyone loves me and thinks I am so adorable, its great to be me! I have met lots of family and many of my parents friends too, but they tell me there are still many people to meet.
I have learned so many things about the world already. I now know how to eat from a bottle. I love to sit in my pink bouncy chair. I tried out my swing but dont really like it yet, I'm so small my head bounces around all over the place. My pac'n play and bassinet are cool places to hang out, but I would much rather be held when I sleep, I let mom and dad think I am asleep most of the time but then when they put me down I prove to them who is now the boss in this house. I'm actually a pretty good sleeper, I can sleep through the sound of a hammer pounding a nail into the stairs when daddy works on finishing the house and also through the sound of the dogs barking when people drive into the driveway.
I now weigh 7lbs and 8oz, I am gaining weight like a true American! I went to the doctor again a few days ago, she said I am very healthy and doing great. When I was born I was in the 5th percentile because I was so early, but now I am already in the 20th percentile! She told me my legs and arms are really strong.
Yesterday I had my first real bath and I loved it! Ive been trying to tell mom for a while now to cut the crap with the sponge bath thing, I really didnt like my butt in the cool air.
I finally got the pooping thing down without dads assistance. Mommy thinks its funny because she doesnt have to do it, but dad and I dont like to talk about it. Hopefully I wont remember this and Dad will learn to forget too!
I have a web camera that we use to see and talk to our cousins in South Dakota, its so cool!
Hugs and Kisses!
Baby K

MY FIRST WEEK Date: 5/18/2007
Mom and Dad brought me home on Monday, I was really glad to leave the hospital so I could go meet my dog Molly. She doesnt know what to think of me. I gave her one of my blankets and she sleeps on it all the time now, she is always trying to sniff me, but I dont mind.
Tuesday I had my first 24 hour follow up doctor appointment. I have lost lots of weight, and the boob lady says that I am a lazy eater. She gave mom a feeding straw that she puts formula in to help me eat more food and faster. The doctor also said my Jondis had gotten worse and I needed to be admitted overnight to the hospital. You will see some photos of me sunbathing under the lights with my goggles on!
Wednesday I got to come home again, my tan looks fabulous. I have also started gaining my birth weight back. Mom got a baby scale so she can weigh me whenever she wants. Overall, everyone is much happier with me. Thank god because I really dont like it when they do the belirubin test on the bottom of my feet.
TGIF, I am doing great and eating well! I sleep lots but only for two-three hours at a time before I get hungry again. Love, Baby K
